My name is Ken Holvenstot (Mr. Stot). I live in Iowa and am 30 years old. I am engaged and have a beautiful 1 year old daughter that I stay home and take care of. I was in the US Marine Corps from October 2005-2013 doing 5 years active service getting out with an honorable discharge. I tried my hand at college and it didn’t work out. I was working before my daughter was born and am so blessed that I can be a stay at home dad with her. Right now I have to have people watch her because of the injury but I still help take care of her most of the day. I am involved with Taekwondo and have been doing it for 4 years now. I am working on becoming an instructor, even in my wheel chair I can still help and teach classes.

I am writing this blog to help anyone I can going through this situation of having torn/ruptured achilles tendons. I also am writing this blog to help myself remember what I went through. And I also am writing this for those that are curious to what I’m going through and how I’m handling it.

I hope you enjoy my blog! Feel free to comment or contact me for feed back!

Hey Ken I was really curious so I put “Achilles bilateral” in the search box in the top right of the main page and came up with the following bloggers who had double ATR’s…a very small group indeed. If you haven’t found them already yourself, you cut and past the names into that box and read what each of them reported.

As a fellow martial artist and having come from a long line of veterans, I felt inspired to help you out in some way…so if you haven’t read these yet I can tell you that I just read Canada goose’s and mlaro’s blogs…lots of helpful stuff in those if you haven’t seen them yet. I’d suggest reading the comments too. I really enjoyed Canada goose’s point of view and attitude…seems like someone I’d like to hang out with. At one point in the comments they talk to each other and compare notes…that was pretty cool.

    Tucker22 is just one post.

atlbilat’s is several posts with more good info.

    bilateralbummer’s is just one post.

I think in future when someone seems really victimized by their one rupture I’ll refer them to the first two blogs (and yours) in an attempt to show them that despite the challenge they face,it could have been more challenging. I have a good feeling You’ve got this! YAY you!
