8 weeks 2 days… new record!

Posted on September 25th, 2008 in Uncategorized

I am exactly 1 week further along this time around than the last time.  I’d crack a beer in celebration, but it’s only 9 in the morning (I like to wait until at least 10 am……just kidding).

I have had 2 PT sessions.  Both times the same.  A little “stim” with the pads on the achilles.  A little heat.  Then some stretching backwards with the towel, and then stretching back and forth with a big rubber band.

I’ve studied all the pictures of the human skeleton hanging up in the physical therapists’ office now…I’m ready to move on.

  1. I am also on my second go round at 9 weeks and 2 days. How do you plan on going up the stairs in shoes this time? I also have stairs and I am afraid of going to two shoes. Although that is not how I re-ruptured it. I was in the kitchen and the microwave made an explosive sound and I stepped back quickly and probably crouched. As far as stairs go…last time around the doctor told me to go up sidways. What can we do to prevent another go round? Stay in the boot forever? Catherine

  2. I was thinking about staying in the boot for at least another year or two!! But seriously, I don’t see myself using the stairs w/o the boot for quite sometime.

If my doctor or physical therapist tries to get me in 2 shoes anytime soon…that’s all fine and dandy, but I’ll still go to work with the boot. I work as a bartender, so I’m constantly on my feet and working in close proximity with a lot of frantic people….so I don’t see myself working w/o the boot for months….and I’m fine with that.

I think a lot of people get in 2 shoes around 10 or 12 weeks, right? So you should be “ready” (a relative term anymore) to give that a go!
