Everything started great - doc took my cast off, said everything was fine with the wound, cleaned the area and fiited me into the boot.  It felt weird first but I could feel that it will help me walk just fine.  Went back to the office, had a long day.  It started to rain as I was coming home.  As I stepped out of the cab, my crutches slipped on the wet tile in front of my house and then I stepped on my injured foot.  You know, just as a reflex.  I got my balance back, got into the house and freaked out.  Totally.  I didn’t feel any pain or rather, could not decide if I did or not. I texted my doctor who said that if I hadn’t dorsiflexied it totally, it should be OK.  But of course, i don’t know what happened, it was a split second.  I WOULD believe that in the boot you can’t flex it, right??  Please tell me that you can’t!! Please!  Now I feel some pain, or rather some discomfort around the incision - which of course could have been the same without the slip.  I just don’t know.  I do not know if there is pain or I just fantasize… I will have an appointment tomorrow at 9 am with the therapist, I guess until then I just have to wait.  And pray, maybe…. This is the moment when you turn to some higher force, be it earthly or heavenly…

You poor thing! I’m SURE SURE SURE that your tendon is fine. I know it’s really scary though!!! Try not to worry too much. Tomorrow stop by your ortho if it makes you feel better. But, I’d bet you a lot of money that all is well. BE CAREFUL! :) If there is any water around, when you are on crutches you’re pretty much doomed. So, dry dry dry the bottom of those crutches. I had to put a towel in my foyer in case I ever go in thru front door. Once I hopped my self in and crutches slid on hardwood floors. I’m like the wicked witch of the west…very afraid of water. Water and crutches don’t mix well. Let us know how you feel tmorw.

Judit think positive! Just a little slip wont take you down..the boot should protect the tendon. It was just plain luck that I didnt crack my head open hobbling around on those damn things. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks, guys! As it turned out, there was no damage done (even though I slipped one more time this morning as I was leaving the house… - this boot makes me so clumsy…). I had my first therapy session, it lasted for almost two hours, they did mostly the passive things (magnet, laser, ultrasound, etc). My therapist said that the key thing was to make the tendon soft and flexible. She also prescribed me some homework, mainly a little footwork in water and massaging my incision with some gel. Hope it will be fine. I just had the worst night ever since my surgery. Not only because I worried my head off about the slip but also because of the boot was so more uncomfortable to sleep in than the cast…I remember someone (maybe eerie) was saying earlier that I shouldn’t be longing for the boot so much - boy, she was right… But to be able to have therapy is good, though.
Anyway, thanks for the nice thoughts!
