4 Days Post Op

I had surgery to repair a full rupture 4 days ago.  Everything went very well and I was pleasantly suprised of the fact there were minimal side effects from the general anestesia.  Pain level at most during intial recovery at hospital wasn’t much more than a 4 and really hasn’t reached that since.  I stuck to my medication regimine flawlessly (1 narco 10/325 every 2 hours) for the first 48 hours.  I took a few Diazapam (5 mg) when sleeping as I ran into a few spasm which were a little painful in the middle of the night.  It has now been 2 days since I have taken anything for pain since the only time it bothers me is if my leg is not elevated due to the blood flow of being upright.  It’s amazing how much mobility is taken for granted and at times can get frustrating when getting up to grab a snack or glass of water.  I highly recommend the I Walk Free 2.0 as it really does allow you to do more.  I also use a cart with wheels and a basket to make it easier to move about the kitchen.  I am beginning to get a little stir crazy, although I was able to make it out yesterday to continue my tailgating ritual.  Luckily, it’s the first full day of football so sitting on the couch all day is more bearable.  9 more days until my follow up appointment and I hope to go from this spint back to my boot.  I am ready to start PT and begin PWB as soon as they let me.

  1. Hello-
I ruptured on 9/13 and after getting diagnosed for a partial rupture then harassing KP for 4 days after MRI was completed was urgently seen by Ortho and had surgery on the 21st. I was placed in my boot after surgery with my foot at 30 degrees. NWB for 6 weeks and I also have to iwalk 2.0 and scooter. Right now it is pretty uncomfortable to have my foot in either of those gadgets for more than 10 min. Any suggestions on comfort? I take ibuprofen for some aches in the lateral left ankle around 3 times per day. I also figure this should cover any embolisms or thombus that might develop….I definitely understand about the little tasks that seem to take a lot more energy. I have a 2 year old and 8 month old…..I was lucky to ruin my Mom’s 3 week vacation which started the day I went to surgery….good luck with going store crazy…..maybe try an audiobook?
