  1. Hi, this is a comment.

  2. Hello,
My tendon snapped at the heel as well. Was told had only 8mm cuff which became 6mm after surgeon trimmed it. Had bone anchors after he “shaved” the calcaneum to achieve a good area of anchorage.

I am currently 21 days post surgery on a full cast. I was told it was a very bad injury and surgeon wants me for 6/52 in a cast and then another 4-6/52 in a aircast boot.
Main issue is ankle swelling when foot is in dependent position, after only 1 minute or so. This is very bad as I am very limited in moving with crutches. My foot is elevated 95% of the time. Also have some pulling sensation around heel and tendon which I assume is part of the healing process.

Overall it is s very trying time for me as always been very sporty and active.

Ruptured my Achilles playing basketball (been playing for several years every week).

  3. Very similar to my injury, although my doctor had me start PT fairly early at about 6 weeks, and a couple weeks later I started walking ( gingerly ) in tennis shoes. I am 11 weeks post op now and still experience persistent ( mostly heel ) soreness,
and I am just starting to feel like I can get some “push off” when walking. I too get swelling after walking a while, but I do see improvement albeit not as quickly as I would like. I miss basketball and am worried about my other leg now. Stay in
touch on your recovery, as I will as well. Best of Luck.
