A subtle recovery milestone

October 14, 2011

Well it’s 2.5 weeks post surgery.  Only reason I’m even mentioning it is I noticed a subtle but positive milestone in recovery.  I’m still in a hard cast and will be for another 5 to 6 weeks.  But my leg feels different … in a good way.  Sort of “whole” for the first time since the injury.  Might be some wishful thinking but I’ll take it!

That’s great news! I am in the same time frame as you. Though it is just the beginning, it’s great to hear you have made a small amount of progress! A good day is a good day! ;)

I agree, this early into it, things like sleeping on my side and not having pain in leg (propped with pillow inbetween legs) was a huge milestone!! I thought I would be on back with leg elevated for months. Now I actually sleep in a few positions and the casted leg cooperates. It all about the day you are in and some days are like others, but other days you get something small to make you say, you are just a bit farther along. I will NEVER say no to a walk again when I’m up and walking. It will come. Not looking ahead, staying right where I am.
