new pictures taken 9/5/11 after cast removed at 8weeks post op
week 8 update
wel thats me just been to the out-patients to have my fibreglass cast removed and was under the impression that i was gettin an air walker boot for a while during staged of physio. when the cast was removed the surgeon was very pleased and said that i can now start FWB which i informed him i had been doing for the last 4weeks. he was very shocked but also very pleased to hear this and asked how it felt and if there was any pain. i said that it was awkward for the first few days but i soon got used to it so now i have been sent home with my trainers on and told to get to physio for some stretches and various other exercises. i am now allowed to drive to will be heading back to work soon i hope and sit about in the office. my ankle is kind of locked in the 90degree position but i feel it losening off and movement will return in no time i reckon.
what a difference having a bath has made, everything feels so much better now. the dry skin is slowly coming off and not itchy now.
ah figured it out now, able to upload pictures
Wound
Hi everyone,
new to this site and slowly getting to know how various things work.
I have managed to upload some pictures of my wounds and thought i would share, surgeon stated he was happy with healing when NWB cast was removed.
Feel free to have a look on my blog and leave comments if you are at same stage in recovery,
Jim
Hi everyone, I am new here and looking for info
hello,
i have recently gone throught an operation to lengthen my achilles tendon on my left leg and also had a steindler release done on the same foot in order to sort out some issues that i have had since early teenage years.
I got operation on the 10th of March and got NWB cast removed on the 4th of April and stitches taken out and a fibreglass refitted, given crutches back and told to put weight on my leg. Unsure of how much weight i was ment to put on leg i struggled away and 4days later i was walking without use of my crutches.
I was initially told that i would have this cast on for 6weeks but surgeon said at 4week post-op that i would only require it for 4weeks then have it removed and boot fitted for physio.
Can anyone tell me what the best exercises are for when i do get cast off and how best to look after myself as my local physio is not very good so i feel that i will end up doing everything myself with help from info i get online.
Many thanks,
Jim
