Plantar Fibromas

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to post an update. I’m almost 7 months out from my initial AT tear and 5 months out from my fall that ruptured my plantar fascia. My Achilles is continuing to get better. I feel stronger all the time, but I still don’t feel 100%. I get soreness and some pain, and the incision site itself sometimes gets irritated from rubbing against my shoes. I am running using the Alter-G (I’m at 85% of my body weight).

I still have 2 bumps on the bottom of my foot in my arch. When I saw my doc. for my 6 month appointment, he said he was concerned about them and wanted to get an MRI to further examine the bumps and rule out any possibility of malignancy. The MRI showed they were just plantar fibromas, benign tumors that have formed as a result of the trauma from my fall. They no longer cause me any pain, so we’ve decided to leave them alone unless they become much larger and interfere with my walking or begin to cause pain/discomfort.

Generally, I’m so over this whole process and hope it speeds up soon. I want to feel like an athlete again. I realize that I may never be as athletic as I once was, but I miss having the same confidence I used to. I can’t walk down the steps or walk on certain surfaces when it’s raining without the intense fear of falling or worrying that I may re-rupture or rupture the right one. Oh well…..All things get better with time, right?

Any women try the Skechers  Go Walks as work shoes?

Best of luck to all on your AT journeys!
