Start of Week 11

I finally got in to start PT.  It’s been great to finally get a status and insight to the level of recovery.  Luckily the doc was pleased with my progress on ROM (thanks to beanie’s exercise guide…!!).

I’ve also felt comfortable enough to finally graduate to two shoes.  I’ve been out and about without the boot, taking great care of each step I take.   At this point, I spend so much time looking down, I could have walked by the Pope today and I wouldn’t haven’t even had noticed.  And if I did, I would have looked at his feet, and thought, wow… what great ankles…!!!

At this point, I think the transition is going from being so conservative for the fear of a re-rupture, to feeling like it’s time to start to build some strength and get the stamina back.   It’s funny how your body will tell you when it’s ready, and right now, it’s telling me it wants to start getting back to where it once was.  Of course, the path is slow and steady with this injury, but each day brings new possibilities for improvement, no matter how small they may be.

    Your tendon needs the work to encourage the collagen type I to form and with it will come strength. Hope it goes well. I remember the awareness of everything around me and every crack in the pavement.

    lol Bryan, I totally get the calf and ankle appreciation (and sometimes envy!) :) Awesome stuff, so glad to hear that you’re doing so well. Good luck and take care!
