Bruising from an air cast

Hi all,

I survived my first day in the air cast, but my foot is quite bruised, I cannot find any info on that, other than some small blurb basically saying it is pressure bruises.  Any opinions out there or experience on the matter.  Before I panic and head for my doctors office or sit around for 3 hours at an emergency ward I thought I would see if anybody else has experienced this.

On a good note, after the initial pain and movement this morning, I can actually comfortably bare some weight on my foot (in the cast of course),  I am very careful to ’shuffle’ and put my foot flat.  Which surprised me considering yesterday I could not put any weight on it at all, and the pain I had last night.  I am a bit tired from a not so restful sleep last night, but I am very pleased that I can put some weight down on the foot.

Cheers

Harry

  1. Where’s the bruising? Any boot can fit badly, and you can add padding and wraps and foam and adjust the straps and the air bladder until it fits. Obviously, it should be snug enough to keep your ankle immobilized, but not so snug that it hurts or bruises. Didn’t you notice the bruising while it was happening? An ounce of prevention. . . listen to your body (especially that leg!).

  2. I talked to a fellow Tendon Ripper who had the injury last year, apparently he had a similar issue just getting the boot to fit right. But so far no issues today at work, Through I am taking it easy. I may have over done it last night, today I taking it easier…

  3. Following up, my bruising is gone and I was able to weight bare all the way home from the Grocer, using the crutch more like a cane. No pain, I am amazed how 24 hours makes a difference
