Ski Report 2015 - Who’s Planning a Trip?

Posted at 8:06 pm under Uncategorized

For me it has been a slow slog to get back to feeling anything like normal. Nine months to the day of my injury. But not to dwell on the negatives rather looking forward to hopefully skiing in Colorado this coming February and take my 11-year old boy along for a long overdue vacation.

So just wondering who out there who was injured this year thinks they are going to make it to the slopes?

And where are you headed?

And are you going to get Doctor’s sign-off or just head out?

My plan of the moment: Crested Butte.

No ATR this year for me, but I plan to be in Whistler late Jan and late March, a week (6 ski days) each. Wendy and I have done that 40+ times now, so we can help show any of you lots of the good spots, on and off the mountains.

A year on from my rupture in April we plan to return to Andorra, the scene of the rupture!

ATR in November 2013; hit the slopes again almost exactly 5 months post-op in April 2014, at Breckenridge, CO (which happened to have EPIC spring snow). Got the (reluctant) sign off from the OS and the PT. New AT and calf felt weak and “off”, and I couldn’t go quite as hard as normal, but I got up to 43mph and was hitting the blacks and double blacks on the second day. Pretty confident about this season.

Have an awesome time at Butte! We’re thinking about doing our annual trip there (my first time) in March.

Nick, have fun at Andorra. Coast2coast, I am still on for Crested Butte, my ATR repair is holding strong. Unfortunately Butte does not have a lot of snow this year so far and the weather report predicts only small amount for the next 10 days. Here’s hoping they get slammed in February! Breckenridge is our backup plan but I have the impression it gets crowded - what’s your take?
