Using those crutches……
April 21, 2008
Had a session with my physio and mastered getting around on two crutches with my Aircast Boot. Can now go up and down stairs. Taught me a good way to remember:
Going up: Good Leg goes to Heaven (Good leg up a stair, swing bad leg up, crutches always stay with bad leg)
Going down: Bad Leg goes to Hell (Bad leg down a stair, accompanied by crutches, swing good leg down)
It helped me - maybe could help someopne else!

One thing I did with the crutches is duct taped a folded old towel to each armpit cushion. It really helped cut down the rubbing under my arms and was more comfortable. I could have bought offcial crutch coushins for $25…..but couldnt do it. I use the phrase (good to Heaven- Bad to Hell) all the time. It really helps. One other tip try to remember if you have a wing nut on the handle face it pointing back not front. I already ripped two pair of shorts when that wing nut would catch my pants pocket.

I did exactly the same with duct tape and a towel. I think the fact that duct tape is slick also helps to reduce friction.
