How can I help?

My life is chock-full of beauty, especially the wonderful people in my life. As wonderful people, many of my friends, business associates, & acquaintances have asked how they can help. I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that this injury limits my independence for the time-being, so the following are ideas of how to help a Cheerful Gimper:

DO:
…keep me in your prayers as I progress toward my benchmarks.
…write me a letter. I love mail!
…offer me a ride when it’s convenient for you. I won’t be able to drive for a few months.
…help me MOVE! I’m moving to an apartment in Provo soon. I packed as many boxes as I could in anticipation of my surgery, but I won’t be able to haul them down my 34 stairs for quite some time.
…send practical gifts. I do not want candy; comfort food makes me want to go for a run. If you don’t know what would be helpful, you can always ask - or just send a Costco/Kroger/iTunes/etc gift card. Or just a LETTER! (See above. Haha)
…have me over for a healthy meal. Or ask to come visit me for dinner, once I can cook. “Come for the food; stay for the fun!”

DON’T:
…try to cheer me up. I’m not depressed & I know which of my friends I turn to when I do get down. If you’re one of them, you’ll know. If not, please don’t try. Your heart is in the right place & I love that about you, but you’re trying too hard and it makes me feel pitied. Assume I’m happy & smiling through the pain. Because I am.
…send junk food. (Again, see above.)
