Two…thats right TWO SHOES!!

Flying high right now!! OS is floored with my progress in ROM and healing. I am cleared for strength training, running, and most importantly GOLF!!! Only thing I cannot work on is heavy impact which I can work my way up to for when he give me the go ahead. The greatest info he gave me is that he thinks I will be cleared to go back to firefighting in early November, over 1 month ahead of schedule!! Will be focusing on getting rid of the small limp I have acquired walking in the boot. It is definitely noticeable walking on the treadmill in front of the mirror, it almost feels like my good leg is shorted than the other. Nothing that can’t be fixed with a little work!

I did tweak (not to be confused with twerk…lol) my lower back at PT last Thursday so my home regimen has been limited for a couple days but it feels so much better today after getting some treadmill work in.

I would like to thank everyone for their words of encouragement throughout this process. I hope that my story can help anyone else who is going through this as well.

Nothing new on the baby front…still hoping Wednesday is the day she will enter this world!

Wow man, you’re recovery story is amazing. It motivates a young guy like myself (24) to look on the brighter side. First off, I wish you the best of luck with the baby. Becoming a father, and going back to work ahead of time, not to mention a little golf, probably has you feeling like you’re on cloud 9.
    Best of luck to you!

Good luck, good healing, and don’t stop!! Most lower-back aches are caused by muscles that won’t stop “firing”, and respond well to drugstore-type back belts. With Spandex and Velcro (usually two stages), they support the hyperactive core muscles and persuade them that everything’s OK and it’s alright to relax. I’ve had magic results from those belts, and several friends of mine have, too. For over a decade, I’ve been wearing one inside my ski suit, and skiing bumps without the fear of backaches that previously kept me mostly on the groomed runs. That’s the only time I wear one when I DON’T have a backache, but as soon as my lower back starts complaining, out it comes! It’s worth ~$25 to see if it does magic for you, IMHO.

Whoa, Nelly! You are cleared to run? You must be some kind of healer. Congrats and good luck :)

Late to the party, but as a Paramedic off work since 11/2013, I can completely relate to looking forward to getting back to work!

I am also very thankful to be representative of a “best case scenario” recovery and I’m hoping to be back on 100% duty in 3 weeks.
