Wow 7 weeks post ATR!!

I can’t believe its been almost 2 month! I’m still in the boot but able to walk with all my weight on it. The boot is killing my heel and irritating the heck out of it… I am feeling so good tho. I have my 7 week post-op appointment  on tuesday and i start transitioning to 2 shoes! I’m very excited about that. Im delayed on my pt cuz the 2 i want to go to aren’t fitting with my schedule… So next week it is. I’m going to get in the pool starting next week cuz I need some cardio!!! I’m looking forward to the painful sessions of rehab…very curious. So thats about it! Hope all of you are doing well!!!

Happy healing!

work & schedule while in ATR recovery isn’t easy …
I’m almost 7 weeks after ATR
I have once a week PT session and the rest I do at home.
Yesterday I got my 1st real PT (pain & torture) - when PT doc started stretching my foot, before were just simple up / down.
I have to do that stretch and hold for 60 sec once a day for a week and monitor my swelling very closely.

my swelling comes and goes…i think the boot rubbing against my ankle doesn’t help. Due to my leg being atrophied so much, i have a lot of room, even if i tighten it all the way! If im on my feet all day (which is very often) my ankle gets hot and there is swelling, but otherwise not too bad… I have my first PT thursday, I should have had it 2 weeks ago, i’ve been doing self massage and moving on my own. I can dorsiflex as much as the other foot when sitting without any pain. My knees are starting to ache a little but i’ve been seeing a chiropractor for months so she is helping. I have my 7 week post op tomorrow. Mike, are you in 2 shoes now??

no, I’m not in 2 shoes yet - plan to get there after 8 weeks
    And I didn’t have op.
I think my dorsiflex is the same as well, but I fell stiffness when I do it in sit position - I don’t do dorsiflex otherwise at all - to early for me.
I got some knee pain as well due to immobilization IMHO.
I started stationary bike and it’s getting better.
I have to balance risk with what I can do and what I should do to avoid re rupture.

Both of you, if your knees are bothering you, make sure that your “good” foot is as elevated as high as the boot elevates your “bad” foot. Walking lopsided is bad (and dangerous) for all kinds of body parts! Knees, backs, hips. . .

Faydra, are you wearing a sock inside your boot? You should be able to put one on — carefully! — without stressing your AT, and it should relieve a lot of the friction from the boot. Two pairs of thin socks will often completely eliminate friction (because the two socks rub against each other.) There may also be ways of stuffing some foam rubber (or thicker socks) into the part of the boot that’s too loose. (We skiers — especially those of us who have “funny” feet! — know all about modifying and “fitting” boots!)
