boot the wrestler!!

hey guys its the wrestler again!! Man its never been this cold/rainy in southern California ever. yesterday i had to run around on crutches with crazy winds and rain. I almost ate it when i went into a store with marble floor after crutching as fast as i could from the car. the book is kinda weird and it feel alittle weird on the ankle but im pro already, been practicing all day! realized that if you wear shoes that have alittle bigger sole its easier. I wear vans so it was hard at first. but im due on this book for 4 weeks and im excited to get it off mid-January!! maybe i can make the last snowboarding season. but i didn’t get to ride my dirt bike this winter :’(

but id like some input about the boot from some athletes and how long it took them to feel confortable after the boot was removed to do physical activity again. ive been lifting ALOT of upper body at home but im itches to get back on the mat. and finally tonight im goin to the gym for the first time in two months!

thanks guys!!!

free the wrestler!

so today i just got my cast off! and i have to say these pass two months with this cast on has felt like a year. Alot of depression for a big part of it but i feel like 2009 will be a good rebulding year.

Back to business, so i cant put much weight on it at a 90 degree angle and i dont get my boot till monday cuz health care rocks here in the states, better than nothing tho! so i cant wait for the boot and the ability to walk haha. the doc says i have to be on the boot for like 4 weeks which sucks ass but its hella better than the crutches. so i wanted to get some input on how long till i can start putting weight on my foot because being 19 and goin to parties in a boot isnt lookin fun hahah

thanks guys! and happy holidays!

Doctor Results (for the wrestler)

So i went in to the ortho on friday with the MRI at hand. and they doc looked it over and said that it was a partial tear and that i would have to keep my cast on for 4 more weeks. (ive been on crutches for a month already. two of those weeks with the cast) he seemed so relaxed about it. and i questioned him making sure he KNEW i wanted to go back to my old lifestyle and she said that i would be just fine with the cast and that if in 4 weeks when he takes it off and  if he feels that its too tender he will leave it on for 2 more weeks.

it scares me how im more worried about this then my doctor. What do u guys think?

Wrestler in distress

Hey guys!

So here is my story. Im 18 years old and wrestled for 3 years down in southern California. Two-time state qualifier. I recently graduated from high school and was offered a coaching position since my college is so close to my old high school. On oct 21 i was wrestling at a local club where i coach wrestling and i was wrestling with this kid and i took a back step when he took a shot. My luck when i took the simple back step i hurt a pop and rolled over and just sat there til the end of the practice. Lucky me my truck is a stick so i had to ask one of the guys to drive me to the hospital. it took about a week to get me to the ortho and he put me in a cast with the toes pointed downward. This week i finally took my MRI and today i meet with the doctor to see what the final word is. Ive been reading blogs and i realized that i ruptured it. the problem is i live a VERY active lifestyle.(dirt bike, kickboxing, wrestling, snowboarding, etc) and i enjoy pushing my body to the limit. so i was wondering if i should just ask for the surgery since i want to keep this level of activity?

also it would be cool if other wrestlers or MMA fighters could give me some insight on their recovery and how long it takes to get back in the fight.

thanks guys!
