I’ve been thinking about getting fitted for some going forward. After some hesitation after looking at some un-stylish ones online I found this site which has some good looking ones

Anyone using or planning to use orthotics on a regular basis or just going back to regular sneakers? I have flat feet and over-pronate quite a bit.

I had flat feet corrected in childhood and had the same feeling as you to use a Podiatrist and orthodics, however, when I actually needed sneakers for the standing PT that started for me at 8 weeks, I just went out to the mall in my boot, went to several good shoe stores, and tried on dozens of different kinds of shoes.
I found that Nike Free were the best fit for me to use in PT. They are the only shoes with backs I wore up until this week. I had only been able to wear my open backed sandals or clogs and always with thick socks.
But, I just got this new ankle brace and I love it! It’s a achillotrain and you can google it. I got it from my OS at my 12 week check up.
For the first time I’m able to wear some of my old hiking/biking/work shoes with this under my sock. It’s bulky in the shoe and not a long lasting solution, but at this point in my recovery it’s quite fine.
I guess I’m suggesting that you may not need “special” shoes…and your shoe needs may change at different stages of recovery…however, as always take what’s helpful here and leave the rest!

Thanks for the tip on Achillotrain, just bought in advance of potential 2 shoe transition Wednesday (amazon must think i’m a medical supply store at this point!).
I have a couple pairs of free’s and I just bought some asic gt 1000 off a zappos recommendation. We’ll see how it goes, the new frees have a sock like top which is nice but worries me about stability. I don’t have that model
I plan to bring the achillotrain and multiple sneakers Wednesday and inquire about PT’s feelings on orthotics.
Thanks for the advice!

Great Eric!
Also, my PT showed me how to retie the two top loops of my sneakers for better support, basically you reverse them….you can ask about that.
