I Got The Boot!
Today I had my cast removed! I was fitted for a boot and I can do up to 50% weight bering. YAY! The incision is looking great and I start PT tomorrow morning! I am so nervous and excited! My heel feels like there are little pins and needles in it. SO STRANGE! I was told that PT will be difficult and work throught the pain! NO pain meds. OOOKAY! I am a tough girl, I can handle it. Right? So a sigh of relief today…..aaaahhhh!
Congratulations Erica! Those little steps you’re now taking are a big step in the ATR recovery process. FWIW, after 4 sessions, PT hasn’t been bad at all for me (yet).
Awesome news!!! I’m still 6 weeks away from starting PT, and based on what others have said,I’m a little nervous about the first few appointments. I have a feeling you’ll do great. As they say, no pain no gain!
Thanks guys! I am nervous also. I am hoping it wont be as bad as I am making it out to be in my head. The only thing, is my PT is located where I work. So I am more self-conscious! GOOD LUCK! Let me know how things are going!
Hey……Congrats on the boot! I actually went in today and got a boot too! Wasn’t sure what was going to happen as it has only been 11 days since my surgery, but I got fitted for a boot with wedges and my doctor said that I can get rid of the crutches as soon as I get my balance! Pretty happy! Can finally start moving around!
Congrats with a little jealousy! I’m still about a month away from ditching the cast, getting a boot and starting PWB. Enjoy your freedom and be careful!

Ya was all this different timelines is sure confusing. Pretty happy that I’m in the boot, just hope that’s what is best! I guess time will tell! Hope you get rid of the cast as soon as you can!
JJNISS, Stay patient with the cast! I do have my confidence back with the boot, however, I am such a clutz that I am afraid to take the boot off when needed! I cant believe I graduated to PWB! How cool!

Erica, Thanks for the encouragement! Not even sure when they are going to start me on PT! Seems so weird to go from cast and being able to do nothing, to the Dr saying that I don`t even need crutches is super scary! Really afraid of hurting myself! Oh well, just have to think that my Dr knows best! I am so happy with your progress! You had a much longer road than I did and it is great to see how far you have come! Just really nice to have people to talk to! Let me know what I need to expect from PT! Later!
Sounds great! Plan on me touching base tomorrow! Dont be scared. Just listen to your body! You will know what to do!

Well Erica…..First night with the boot was terrible! lol….I had no problem sleeping with the partial cast, but when it comes to trying to sleep with this boot that was a different story! Not sure how I am going to do it! Hopefully someone out there has some advice on that! Can’t seem to get comfortable and there is more pain sleeping in it than I have had in ahwile! Hopefully it will get better! I am off my crutches though and walking on my own on day 12, which is abit of an accomplishment. Let me know how your day went! Dave
