Calf soreness?
September 12th, 2012
Hey guys,
Does anyone else get a sore upper calf once starting to PWB? I’m guessing I’m over-doing it a little…but my leg or ankle hasn’t swollen up, its just my calf that feels sore..I’m hoping that’s just because I’m starting to use it again…
Just checking in?
Cheers,
Miss Emm

You actually shouldn’t be using your calf at all at 3 weeks, but letting your boot do all the work. OTOH, an ATR calf can get sore from being contracted for a long time, while your foot is plantarflexed, “in equinus”.
A 3 weeks i was in a walking boot too with weightbearing as tolorated, calf also hurt, doc said it was the weightbearing and using the leg again.. not to worry..
Thanks….guys I’ll try not to overdo it and let the boot do all the work. The pain isn’t bad, constant or weird in anyway, just like a stiff muscle kinda soreness.. So I’m guessing its just because I’m using the calf again. Thanks Adam for reassurance!! Norm - can you explain all your acronyms?
Hi there - I have been very stiff and lots of cramping, mainly at night when I try to sleep. Some nights are okay, others I am in a lot of pain. Altho I have crutches and cam boot, I still get pain and also am still swollen - it is four weeks today, bruising almost gone. Good luck
Carmel1- some people have had pretty good success using a product like Cytomax to help with cramping. It’s designed to help endurance athletes prevent cramping during extended efforts; but it can sometimes help with things like night cramps too. If you’re having lots of cramping issues, it might be worth a shot.
