When am I actually two shoes?

So, ever since I came back from the last trip, I have only used the boot twice - both times because I wanted exercise and build up a sweat. All other times, m walking around barefoot or in two shoes outdoor. I walked my daughter to the bus this morning, and almost kept up with her. I still feel like I’m hobbling, but try to focus on making a natural stride.

The last two days I also spent time on my bike trainer, clipped into the pedals. No issues with the foot - it feels great. More an issue with endurance or patience. Mobility seems good and there is no pain. I do two-legged heel lifts at the kitchen counter using my arms to offload the weight, I try to feel pressure under the ball of my foot while walking. So when am I officially in two shoes?

  1. Probably a few days ago. “Boot people” have the luxury of “weaning” off the boot into a shoe, rather than jumping cold turkey. That’s a Good Thing, even if the widgets have trouble with it!

  2. Well, happy to note that at my rehab appt yesteday, one day short of 7 weeks post op..full wb in2 shoes, my pt was amazed at my range of motion..left and right movements of operated leg, was spot on and strong..my upward flex is my only downfall, as I am -5 compared to +8 on my good foot which means it is as it should be for the repair, and the strengthening snd lengthing the upper flexion is not that difficult and actually with the exercises, and strenthening and collagen pills I have been doing, I am almost at full walking speed with 2 shoes, no swelling and no pain. I will put on the boot if I am going out in my garden or working in the yard for the next week or two..i also ordered the titanium achilles support from amazon recieved it yesterday, and it feels awesome. It is warm and keeps my circulation flowing with just a little support..my new tennies with the special heel spring arrive saturday! I expect to be fully functional by 12 weeks..

  3. Robina,

Sounds like your recovery is coming along really nicely.

  4. Yes..i am blessed, and probably lucky I heal quickly…even though i am smoker..oh well..i think the collagen supplements and other vitamis have helped alot! Also ingest pure coconut oil and use it on my incision. The titanium atr support, shown on this site is great..i also just got my gravity defyer tennis shoes and they are the bomb…as soon as i put them on i could walk with my old swagger..that heel support is amazing….but, they are really ugly!! Haha, i don’t care as long as they feel good…but..they did send me the wrong pair from the one i ordered…myst be why they are so ugly..i am not sending them back though until they send me the correct ones…I just cant give them up yet…ugly or not..
