Upping the Ante at PT
I walked into PT this morning for my 7 AM appt. offering a present to my PT - a prescription allowing them to do with me as they wish - no restrictions. They were so excited. So, after the bike and backwards treadmill, it was on to leg presses, leg lifts, balancing boards and all sorts of fun strengthening exercises. Who would have ever thought an 85 lb. leg press would be an accomplishment! For the first time, I really worked up a pretty good sweat and felt lik eI had worked out. Topped it off with some ultrasound, soft tissue massage and electric stimulation/ice and I was ready to face the work week. These sessions are between 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 hours - a lot of time - and I am so greatful I found a place a block from my office that has 7-7 hours (I plan to go 2x/week at 7 AM and 1x/week at 6 PM).
Spent yesterday visiting my daughter at her sleepaway camp - lots of uneven terrain and hills - I managed just fine, though my good calf was really sore at the end of the day - guess I was compensating. At one point, it started raining - I was a good 1/4 mile from her bunkhouse and started walking briskly to get there. It started raining harder, I jogged a few strides - then thought better of it and walked. though my foot was not gliding through the stride the way it is supposed to, I did actually jog a few strides! Something to look forward to.
There was a bear at the camp picking at the garbage. All I kept thinking is, don’t get too close, Ed, you aint outrunning a black bear just yet!!

Congrats Ed. Really happy for you!
I have my (possibly) last post surgical appt today. You helped me think of some good questions. Jogging….what was that again? LOL
