AchillesBlog NOT complete..

March 2nd, 2009 · 10 Comments

Well, I think the upgrade went smoothly.  NOT!

This picture sums up the state of the site for the past several days:

House wrecked by a tree.

[UPDATE]

The registration process was broken for a few days, but that problem has since been fixed.  You should be able to register by going to: http://AchillesBlog.com/  and click the sign up button on the upper-left.

[End UPDATE]

However, as far as I can see, I am happy to say that the site is back up and fully operational.  The upgrade took a lot longer than I had hoped.. but it’s well worth it.

When you log into your command console,  you’ll notice that things are a little different.  It’s definitely an improvement from the previous version of the software, so enjoy!

Just let me know if you find any glitches, or have any questions about the new interface. :)

Happy healing!

Dennis - I’m still having trouble creating a new blog. I thought it was upgrade related. When I click on Sign-up or Create your own blog here, it takes me no-where, just stays on the same page? Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks!

Marianne - let me look into it. It’s probably the upgrade.

AchillesBlog is still under construction. Currently, creating new blogs feature doesn’t work. I have to do it for you right now.

If you want to either create a blog or just register, please send an e-mail to: achillesblog@gmail.com from the e-mail account that you want the blog to be associated with.

Please be sure to include the following information:

    1. The username (You have to make sure that there isn’t already another user with the same name, so list a few alternatives.)

    2. Whether you want to just register for the site, or want a blog too.

    3. Blog title, if you want a blog. (You can change it later after you login.)

I am working to fix this so that I don’t have to do this manually. Thanks for your patience.

Hi Dennis, thanks for setting up my account.

One glitch I have found, is that trying to insert an image from my Media Library into a post causes WordPress to “hang.” I use Firefox. When I click the “Insert Into Post” button, the contents of the dialog disappear, but it just sits there, and I need to use the X to close the dialog.

newleaf - thanks for pointing that out. I’ll see if I can duplicate the problem and fix it. Give me a few days though.. I’ll have more time next week to devote to the site.

Wow! I just got my cast off today and you could not have described everything any better. I was so upset that I could not walk any better than I could in the boot I cried! (my girlfiriend said my expectations were too high!) The doctor just put me in a half boot. What is yours–a half or a full boot? I don’t like where this one rides on my calf. that hurts almost as much as my heel. I did notice that the longer I walked the less it hurt. Good luck. We’ll get there. It is just going to be slow going.

    Hi Dennis

with regards to the following message we spoke of previously:

[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The poster sent us ‘0 which is not a hashcash value.

If it shows twice in this post, especially at the end, its because I cut and pasted the main body of text in from notepad. The Wordpress website said something about false positives regarding spam. and if you go to settings you can turn it off. But it looks like I dont have the privileges. (Administrator ie you) I hope this helps.
