No SPAM Achilles Tendon Rupture

Now that Achilles Blog is getting more and more visitors (which is a good thing), we’ve been a target of annoying comment spams.

I have added some anti-spam measures.. so if you are not logged in, and you want to leave a comment, you’ll have to first type the security word on the image that appears next to the comment box. I am sure you’ve seen this on other websites. I’ve picked out some “positive” words as security words. I believe that any bit of positive thinking helps. ;)

What is that star by my name for?

Well, had my biggest day out to date. I walked around the mall for about 5 hours today in the boot. I have no “Kankle” to speak of, and my post cast rash is seeming to improve. No pain in the tendon, but I get stiff quickly when the boot is off, meaning it is difficult to put dorsiflex the foot to put the boot back on. Tomorrow will be six weeks post op. I have been tenderfooting about the house in a shoe. At this point I am very careful in the shoe and move more quickly in the boot. I think I know what the rash is from. Since my MD cleared me to FWB while in the cast (week 2.5) I did my best to oblige. I went to the gym and did upper body quite a bit, and rode the recumbent bike for 20 min on very low resistance, and walked a bit on it every day. I have a heat rash from sweating and clogging my sweat glands. When this happens the sweat can’t get out from under the skin, and gets injected between the layers of skin. It itches like crazy if I touch it. If I had it to do over I would a) get a cast that I could get wet so it would dry faster, b) take it a bit easier and not get a giant sweaty leg. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Jim - The star means that you are a “regular” here. After a certain number of comments, you get the star..

I guess maybe a vote..? If you like the “star” or don’t like it, please let me know. If there is enough of a protest, I’ll remove it. :)

    Dennis,

Now that you’re off the boot, you can start dunking like this:

    john -
Just watching the guy jump up and down on the trampoline is scary enough. Great clip.

    Anti-Spam

It looks like you are now getting blog spam - when will this ever stop? Users toni4140, christian2245, and nasir5698 are obviously just spammers.

When I saw the site yesterday Dennis I couldn’t believe it, what do these spammers get out of spoiling things for others. Anyway, glad you seem to have removed them from the site.

    Thanks for everything
    Annie
