Sorry about your misfortune. I tore my achilles this past spring and let me tell ya, this was the longest and most painful summer of my entire life. I’m an athlete and have had other surgeries on my hand and knee but this was the hardest to recover from by far.
At any rate, how’s the leg recovering? How long have you been off your feet? Long like you’re getting around quite well.lol
Nice writing. Have you thought of writing for a living. You tell such a great story(sadly this is a real story).
See you at the meeting. Hope the trip goes well.
im jed 33 yrs. of age a filipino and im not that good in speaking english,
what happened to me is a freak accident, my wife and i decided to have our own house be built, and during the roofing section of the construction we visited the site where our house is ongoing its construction.
then i was walking towards the main door of our house and suddenly i felt a very agonizing pain when i checked and looked at the back of my left foot, i saw a piece of the roofing that cut my A.T. it was not clear if i stepped on it or the person working in the front part of the roof accidentaly dropped the piece of the roof.
then i bleed large amounts of blood and i couldnt stand, i was rushed to a very nearby hospital just in front of our house and bigger problem arises,….
they done an xray 3 times and the PRACTICING DOCTOR mis-diagnosed my accident, i asked her if my tendons were cut she told us that it was okay,,
past 16 days when i was recovering and the wounds are getting better i tried to walk and there i noticed something is wrong with my tendons, to make the story short i have it check by a specialist a orthphedic surgeon and it turned out that i was correct.
its been 9 weeks since my surgery, the cast were already removed and i am now having a physical therapy.,
i dont know if i can still walk the same way i used to because the problem on my case is that surgery was almost too late 16 days have passed before surgery was done on my wounded and cut A.T. , both ends of the tendons have healed and the surgeon needed to cut the edges again before recconecting it during the surgery.
anyway i wiash that everything will be back to normal again and this blog site is very helpful to me.
Jed — so sorry to hear your story. Although I am not a physician, I would expect that you will heal just fine. It is a shame you had to wait to have your appropriate diagnosis and surgery. Full recovery takes a long time with this injury, but I would bet you will be walking just fine in a few months. Good luck, keep us posted.
