I am at the six week point and have an appointment tomorrow to have my cast off and then hopefully I will go to a boot. I have been totally NWB this whole time. I am really hoping that tomorrow I can begin to put some weight on it.
It seems as if most people here have ruptured their tendon. I was wondering if anyone had the same surgery I had and what their results were. I had acute tendonosis. My doctor detached my achilles tendon, took off a heel spur, shaved down the bone on my heel and then reattached my tendon with anchors. He also lengthen the tendon.
I am worried because this has been very painful and, although it is getting better, I still have pain. I also continue to have quite a bit of swelling. If I don’t keep my foot up most of the day, my foot swells so much my cast feels like it may burst!
My doctor told me that this surgery has an 80-90% success rate. I am so afraid that I will go through with all this and still be in pain.
Has anyone had this surgery? Did it help? What was your recovery like in regards to pain and swelling?
