Well, I’ve already posted my big news this week–having achieved FWB status 3 days ago. At that time, I thought I would still consider myself officially PWB working towards FWB, but I haven’t touched my crutches or knee-walker since Monday and, so, have officially marked that momentous day as the beginning of FWB for me. [...]

OK, I wasn’t going to post again until the end of this week after my upcoming 3rd PT appointment, but today was a significant milestone I had to write about. Today is exactly 6 weeks since my ATR surgery. Just yesterday I posted that I was disappointed with my 2nd PT appointment (now 3 days [...]

For the past week, since my 1st PT appt., I have been diligent about doing my PT-prescribed stretches/exercises. I was somewhat surprised at how nervous I was with my injured leg completely unprotected–around all those hard tiled and wet surfaces. Even [...]

Today I had my 4-week post-op visit with my orthopedic surgeon. They removed my cast, the surgeon briefly examined my Achilles’ tendon and deemed it “looking good”. I’m now in an AirCast (boot)–the same one I had between my ATR and my surgery–but with 6 “wedges” in the heel. I am to be in this [...]

The last 2 weeks have been relatively uneventful. I’ve been managing well with my hard cast–still NWB. I’ve had no falls during this period, partly because I’m (a little) more careful and partly because I’ve gotten much better at balancing on one foot! I’ve been completely off of the Rx pain pills since near the [...]
