I was scooting from my office down to the elevator when all of a sudden my support began to give out. Next thing I do instinctively is to put my leg with the ATR down to support my body and then look around to determine what happened. Well what happened was my Kneal scooter literally broke in half. The main tube just severed and it wasn’t even on a weld joint. At that point I am in disbelief that this could be happening.
Anyhow, I am not in any excess pain. In fact, if anything I got less pain now, but my foot is swollen. I can twitch my toes. The paramedic said that I would be in a lot of pain if I had reruptured it. I sure hope that is the case. I am going to call the doc in the morning. Crossing my fingers.
I still can’t believe that the scooter broke like that. Anyone else had one break before?

as long as you didn’t come down on it hard and were in your boot, i’m sure you’ll be ok.
i did the same thing at 3.5 weeks post surgery. my knee scooter tipped over on the curb and i ended up putting weight down on the boot. i had a bit of soreness on the tendon, but it went away in 2 days. i asked the surgeon the next week and he was like if you didn’t hear another pop/tear, you’re probably fine.

Your story should’ve began with “I was jumping my scooter off a ramp when…”

Well that’s good to hear. It doesn’t feel like it is reruptured, so I think I am Ok.

Mine once nearly impailed me to the front door (I was coming down my path which is too steep for it) but it didn’t explode on me
Hope all ok

Id better add I had been strongly advised not to use it on my front path….Seriously though, mine was hugely robust would never expect anything like this to happen.

I don’t even have a knee scooter. Crutches are the only things I use mainly becasue, I don’t want to be dependent on anything that much. However, for some, it’s a great thing. Glad to hear you are alright and there was no damage done to your AT. But was it that serious of a fall, where you had to call the paramedics?

We are all different and we also work in different environments. I had over 6 months worth of injections and finally surgery before I hired mine. It cost a bit but needs must, it was totally worth it.

No - I didn’t really need a paramedic in my opinion. I was at work and security insisted on the paramedics come despite my pleas for them not to send them. I just needed some help to get to my car. They probably viewed it from a liability point-of-view.
Glad to hear the crutches are working out for you.

Agreed - I like my scooter. I also use it to keep my leg raised up, as I can slide it under my desk.
