My achilles rupture

Just another Achillesblog.com weblog

Had a scan partial tear back in plaster

Filed under: Uncategorized — dancer at 9:57 am on Tuesday, July 15, 2008

I’m devastated back in plaster AGAIN fully pointed down i have a tear to the outer part of my repaired (semi-repaired) achilles. Deep down i knew i had caused damaged this morning but was hoping it was pain caused by the shock of putting it down again after so long. The only good thing is that it is not a complete re-rupture.

I will stay in plaster for 2 weeks then have my foot moved up again, not sure how long i will be in plaster this time depends on how it heals if not surgery again might have to be considered. Just as i thought the worst was over this happens. i’m totally gutted, was so depressed when the nurse was putting the plaster back on and telling me to point my foot down. So wanted to tell her NO, but shes been so kind over the last 2 months.

I have reluctantly changed my achilles profile back to NWB

Dancer - WOW. I really feel for you. I can’t imagine. I know there is a couple posts with some bad news this morning.

Hang in there, you must be going through a lot today. Have some ice cream, or lots of wine, and some family and friends over.

Keep us posted. KK

dancer,

so sorry to hear about your new injury! Thinking of you. and remember that this too shall pass. Take it easy, no matter how hard it is. The healing is INEVITABLE, even if slow.

And yeah, you should drink. settle into the couch with a bottle of your favorite…

Oh no, so so sorry Dancer, like they say above, drown yourself in wine for a couple of days at least you know what you are up against, and TAKE IT VERY EASY just can’t imagine how you feel.

Rest, rest, and more rest

Annie

Years from now you’ll look back on all this and laugh. Enjoy the downtime. It can’t rain all the time.

So sorry to hear this! Hang in there. We are all thinking about you. Yes, as suggested, have a glass of wine and try to remember it is only a partial tear! Thank goodness.

Quite ironically my security word to leave a comment is stronger. Might be telling me that this whole situation will indeed make me stronger. lol
The only rain we had yesterday was out of my eyes think i nearly caused a flood warning. I’m just glad it didn’t fully rupture, but so p*%?*d off i didn’t manage to stop myself falling/not put my foot down. Or better still thought the whole going swimming whilst still hopping with crutches idea through and stayed well away i was kinda asking for trouble.
A warning to others please be exceptionally careful and avoid any situation that could potentially cause damage. THANK YOU for all your kind words of support esp the wine advice. Looks like i’ll be spending my birthday in plaster aswel. AHHH well its good character building NOT.

Morning Dancer,

I was at physio this morning and she suggested I go to swimming pool and do some walking exercises… I told her about you and said no way was I putting myself at risk of slipping. She got the point!!

Hopefully it will just need the plaster for a few weeks and no further surgery. I really feel for you.

Best of luck
Annie

Dancer, that’s terrible! You weren’t back at the Irish dancing, were you? I am glad you are posting these things, because I am only 13 weeks, feeling pretty good while limping. Reading this blog reminds me to be careful, careful, careful; it’s not worth starting anything like this again! My own dancing is on a very, very, very long hold. I used to love dancing, even Irish “round the house” and all that, but for now it’s take it easy. “She bid me to take love easy…”
