Ankle or AT clicks doing heel raises (need advice)
September 8, 2011 by crutchman
I started physio 1 week ago and now I’m increasing the load on my AT. When i do 2 legged heel raises or marching in one place a clicking noise starts coming from my bad ankle. I’m pretty sure it’s from my AT. There is no pain though. What should I do? Should I stop doing those exercises? Any advice is appreciated.
I’d vote your ankle as mine also cracks a lot, though not from heel raises as I’m not there yet!
I would guess that it is your ankle too. It hasn’t been able to move much for 10 weeks it looks like you are. It will still be pretty stiff at this point. Mine popped and cracked a lot especially as I worked on ROM from about week 7 to probably week 11. It actually felt good when I could get it to pop, felt like it was loosening up some.
Make sure you mention this to your doctor. If you’re experiencing clicking or snapping sounds and sensations with pointing and flexing movements, it could be a symptom of peronial tendon subluxation, or a sign that ligaments are too stretched or out of place.
