It’s automatic so I don’t need to use my bad leg.

It’s 2 weeks on monday since my op. and I’ve been told I can’t drive a car for approx. 8 weeks, so I’m hoping I can get around on my scooter.

Hi folks

I came across this website while looking for advice on recovery from ATR, its a week today since my operation and I must say I feel a lot more optimistic than I did this time last week, I thought my running days were done.

I’m a 40 yeard old male from the UK and I snapped my achilles while playing soccer, it didn’t feel too bad at the time, I had to quit the game and I drove home, I drove to work the next day but I realised something must be wrong because of the pain I was in, I went to see my GP and she informed my that I had ATR and sent me straight to hospital.

The doctor at the hospital put me in plaster and sent me home told me to come back on monday.

I went back on monday and had the operation, that was last week and I’m not sure what I should be doing, at the minute I’m off work laid in bed all day with my foot elevated, how long should I stay like this?

Before the rupture I was going to the gym 3-4 times a week doing cardio and weights, I also played soccer once a week.

I have decided to stop playing soccer altogether but I want to get back to the gym asap, even if it’s just to do upper body weights, could somebody please let me know how soon I could be doing this?

When I was in hospital I wasn’t given any advice to when I will be able to go back to the gym or exercise, hopefully somebody will be able to help me out.

Many thanks in advance

Craigdavid
