As to when you will get your boot, it seems to depend on the doctor and your condition. Some here have gone straight to the boot from the cast. I went to the boot after 4 weeks in a cast. Some have gone longer in a cast before they got a boot.
i’ve got to say I wouldn’t go near the scooter until you walk again.
just read your blog - we’re the same age and did our injuries the same way (footy). I also gave up.
i didn’t do anything in the way of exercise until I could walk again - and even then I just walked. I was running again after about 4 months and now at 6 am back pretty to much where I was fitness-wise. so not so bad really.
I’d just take it easy these next 8 weeks and let yourself heal. the last thing you want is for it go again (can happen..)
I would guess as soon as you’re FWB walking….
thanks for your comments jink122, more or less been doing as you said for the first 12 days, stitches are coming out on monday (hopefully).
I’ve read comments from other people about having a boot fitted, is this instead of the cast and if so how soon could you have one.
Will probably be starting gym late next week, depends on what doctors have to say on monday.
Post-surgery you should be in bed for 10-14 days with leg elevated. Eat, Drink, use the restroom, but for the most part you want to just allow yourself time to heal. The Doctors office should have told you to come back in to remove the cast and see if its ok to take the stitches or staples out. Then you will go into another cast for anywhere from 2-8 weeks.
You shouldn’t think about hitting the gym till at least after the stitches or staples come out.
