It’s A Miracle!
I was 3 weeks Post-Op and total weight bearing in the cam walker. ROM is 100%, gain is normal with boot. No pain, but the scar is a little sensitive. Saw my ortho today (4 weeks post op). He said go with it, but stay in the cam walker for 4 more weeks. Will start formal PT this week for strength training. I going for a world record for rehab, so wish me luck. Anybody else moving along a little quicker than normal?

Glad to hear things are going well. I know you know this but slow and steady wins the race with this injury. I was in 2 shoes within 6.5 weeks. During the first 6 weeks there is a lot of things happening, steady progresst that is measured by:, surgery, splint, cast, PWB, FWB, PT appointments, then 2 shoes and everything goes real slow. You are basically on your own and the only progress that is measureable is your ability to walk without a limp. So go slow and stay the course.

Nice to read about others who are recovering quickly.
I am one of them too. I am male 39 years old, very fit and sporty.
I fully teared my tendon playing badminton. I had full narcoses operation and laid in the hospital for 6 days here in Berlin. I never had any pain (even when I had the injury) and have not used pain killers.
2 weeks after the the operation the stitches were taken off, the hospital told me that I could walk in my new boots without crotches, that I got 3 days after the operation http://www.orthotech-gmbh.de/en/VarioStabil.html the sexy white ones, lol
I was very surprised how early I could walk after reading how conservative the American doctors are.
I am now 4 weeks after the surgery. I have been walking for for 11 days in my boots even without crutches, though I still carry my crotches sometimes for really speedy walking. I have been cycling around in Berlin with no issues for 4 days now, very exciting because it has been summer weather for 4 weeks. Also a week after the operation I went back to the gym (4 times a week) and did a normal work out for upper body and light work out for legs. Now I am getting almost back to full strength even in my legs (even my calf looks ok, though only from walking).
I have been massaging my foot every day and used intrasound vibration called Novafon twice a day. My doctor sent me to lymph drainage and I had the first out of 6. It felt just amazing and very emotional, I kind of felt the bad toxin got removed from my body and 3 weeks of sad and lonely mood changed to my normal uplifting mood. Also the walking and cycling did a huge part.
I am waiting to start PT, though already doing a bit from the exercise table I found on the net.
This week I will use my new tennis racket for playing one man tennis (its a ball on a strap that rebounds to you). I will stand fairly still, not running lol
My goal is normal shoes and dancing for the Christopher street day the 28th of June (that will be 10 weeks after the operation), then I will set a new goal for playing badminton.
All the best to everyone here.

Very encouraging posts! I had surgery for a complete tear on Cinco de Mayo…no cervezas for me though. In my post-op appointment eight days later, I was placed in a boot. I start PT this week (at Day 16) and believe I will begin PWB. Btw, I’m in Los Angeles and my ortho group is a big believer of aggressive treatment for this injury.
I was thinking about getting a new bicycle (as my current mountain bike is literally covered in vines on the patio) so thanks for the inspiration, Kim!
Good luck with everyone’s recovery.

What a relief! I am at 3-1/2wks post op and my ortho told me 4wks before weight bearing. And that was 2wks ago when I got my boot! However, once I got my boot off and put cocoa butter on my that area a wk later it felt pretty good. I had full range of motion pre-surgury so once I loosened up a little I have maybe 98% ROM. So this sat I lost my balance a little and had to put weight on my foot w/ the boot, I felt fine. I tried a few steps and I was fine. I went to a party and stood most of the evening. Now, I’m a little sore but I’m not pushing it. I thought I was going for the a record in recovery! Good to know I’m not alone.
Why is it that american dr’s (outside daveleft dr’s) are so afraid of the aggressive approach?
Anyway I hope I’m not babbling but I just had the best weekend since my accident and wanted to see if I was out of my mind. Thanks for listening.
