Stretching the Achilles

Has anyone experienced a type of intense stretch performed by the physical therapist? I read about this type of stretch during my internet travels. Is this done to break up scar tissue? How soon will they start tendon massage? I’ll be starting PT in about a week and just curious.

Need to stretch the tendon so that the formation of scar tissue is as close to normal alignment as possible. The tendon fibers need to be parallel and not in a haphazard pattern. This will hopefully prevent future strains and minimize the thickness of the tendon. Massage is done to increase circulation, decrease swelling and just feels good. IMO the sooner the better with the massages.
    Good luck
