two shoes

Posted by cgdh13 on December 22, 2012

Yeah. Saw the Dr yesterday and he said I could drive and put on a winter boot. It had been a long five weeks sine I had last seen him. I Havana gained 25 degrees of dorsiflexion during pt. Now I am cleared for full weight bearing pt. I drove today and it felt great. I am a little nervous walking in just a regular boot there is a little snow outside and I walked very slowly. I was liberated from my crutches two weeks ago.

Fwb

Posted by cgdh13 on November 23, 2012

This week I have been bearing more and more weight and today I walked without them. Yeah!! I am really sore tonight and will be icing it soon. I still use my crutches until I feel balanced again. My Christmas tree is up the lights are on but I will have to decorate it tomorrow. Life is good and only getting better. My goal is to be walking well by New Years eve so I can go to first night with my family. There are lots of hills and tons of walking. We will see. My three year old told me today, I can’t wait until you walk again so you can carry me. Love little ones. All I want for Christmas is to walk and drive again.

pool therapy

Posted by cgdh13 on November 16, 2012

I was able to do therapy in the pool today and it felt great. I was very pleased with how it went. To be able to walk again with no boot or crutches felt heavenly. I will be in the pool twice a week for a while. It is more time consuming but helpful and worth it. Looking forward to getting a little rest this weekend.

First PT visit.

Posted by cgdh13 on November 13, 2012

I saw the surgeon on Monday and he said I would start pt right away and was cleared for Rom exercises and whirlpool. I went in today for my first pt appointment. He said I could start in the pool this week to work toward full weight bearing. I don’t see the Dr for 5 weeks but I will be in the pool twice a week. So happy to be on the next phase of recovery. Did anyone else start pt in the pool?

Doctor on Monday

Posted by cgdh13 on November 10, 2012

Well I can almost put my foot down flat with no weight on it. I go to the Dr on Monday and hope to start pt. This week I have felt much better. Getting around on the crutches has gotten easier. My foot doesn’t swell during the day at work. The best thing is I was actually able to do some cleaning today. Hope to be full weight bearing soon so I can carry things around. I cooked a lot today as well. I even went to my three year old daughter’s dance class. Life is starting to get back to normal, even if that is a relative term. Can’t wait for all the holiday festivities to start. We are going to see the grinch in Boston, the nutcracker somewhere close and hopefully many more things to get me in the spirit.

Snow, oh no, snow!

Posted by cgdh13 on November 3, 2012

The news keeps talking of snow being on its way. Normally I would get excited to start snowboarding but this year I dread it. What tips do others have about using crutches in the snow? Also any thoughts about when I am full weight bearing but in the boot without crutches? It doesn’t seem like there is too much traction on the boot. I am nervous about slipping around outside. There is a chance of snow today but it is definately coming next week. I think it is going to be a bad winter also because of the huge number of acorns on the ground. Oh well this too shall pass.

Doctor before the storm

Posted by cgdh13 on October 28, 2012

Thankfully I will be going to the doctor at 10am to hopefully get my stitches out before hurricane sandy arrives. I am far enough north to not expect too much. We will probably just loose power for a while. All the schools are closed tomorrow and my work closes at noon. I will get a good chance to rest at least. Good luck to others who are in Sandy’s way.

Posted by cgdh13 on October 27, 2012

I tried to upload photos today into the media library. It said the files were too large. I tried to use a plugin next gen but couldn’t get that to work. I use picassa on my computer for my pictures. Anyone have any pointers to help me out? Thanks.

Leaves, leaves, leaves

Posted by cgdh13 on October 25, 2012

There are so many leaves on the ground outside my house that I can’t see my driveway. This is usually the way I stay in shape in the fall. I rake and use a leaf blowers. This year I cant and it kills me to see them. Sadly the trees still have a lot of leaves still on them. My husband has so much new work to do inside I can’t really get mad at my husband for not getting out there. Maybe it will snow soon and cover those leaves up. I hate having to rely on everyone to do my chores. Anyone feel the same?
