4 weeks or so since the injury

I don’t have much to update since my last post. I’m still FWB although I try to limit the amount of time that I walk in the CAM Boot. That being said, I walk about 5 city blocks to work everyday.

Over the past few days I’ve noticed that the swelling near my calf and upper ankle has seemed to dissipate a bit; also, the morning pain that I’ve become accustomed to is not nearly as severe. Even though I’ve been FWB without complaints, that’s not to say that I haven’t experience discomfort. Anyway, I hope the past few days will be a reflection of moving progress. If things keep progressing, I can imagine that the boot will not feel like such a hindrance to my every-day-life…other than the whole not being able to play basketball or even walk around like a normal person thing.

My son has kept me in good spirits although a little sleepless at times. Here is an example; I’d like to offer an explanation as to how his blanket ended up on my head, but there really is no answer.

Sounds like you’re moving along pretty well. I am also non-op at 8 wks tonight. I post an update soon.

Love the picture!!!! I remember the sleepless nights with a baby..hang in there with that. It seems to take forever to walk like a normal person. Walking 5 blocks to work is no small feat……hang in there!!!!!

love the picture too - and i’m with you - the only thing keeping me sane is my son - he’s 2.5 and I’m a single mom…thank god for sisters - as I had to move in with mine. Walking 5 blocks seems like a dream to me right now. I’m assuming once I’m out of the riser (next SAturday) I’ll find it easier - but seriously…I am in awe of you - it made me walk around home last night on one crutch!!!

I am curious if you have heard anybody of not using the boot to rehab. My Dr. told me it was a waste of time and money using the boot and I was starting therapy right after 4 weeks of casting. Isnt that weird, especially since every blog I read everybody uses the boot at one point?
