Confidence

With each passing day, I’m feeling more and more confident and less fearful. In the beginning, I was scared to death of doing something wrong and felt like if I just moved my foot wrong that it would re-rupture. Now that I’ve been wiggling my toes and doing some gentle movements, I have no fear of that. I’m not doing a very hard stretch with the dorsiflexion .. but I am a little with the plantar .. I have no pain when doing that. The side to side motion is pretty solid. Today I’m going to try the alphabet with my big toe
Hubby took me out to one of my favorite spots in the park last night and we went for a “walk”. I’m still two crutches and PWB, but it felt really good to be out in nature and having some fun. The only thing that got sore were my wrists from the damn crutches. We watched the sunset and those lucky people on their bikes .. I can’t wait to be back on my bike! that’s been the hardest thing about all this.
I’m also itching to go in our hot tub .. but am too scared that it will hurt at this point. My swelling has gone WAY down … maybe I’ll dip my toes in this weekend and see how it goes.
Other than that, I’m taking my supplements, doing elevation, resting and icing. Oh, I ordered http://accucarecanada.com/Athletic_product/Wome
n/Hot_and_Cold_Wraps/ColdOne_Ankle_and_Foot_Ice_Compression_Wrap. I think it’ll be ALOT easier than trying to wrap an ice pack in the right place on my ankle. It’ll be here in a couple days, I’ll report haow well it works/or not once I try it out.
I’ve been spending some time going over my “bucket list”. One of the things I really want to do on there is sky dive before I’m 40. I’m crossing my fingers that I can still do that .. I’ve got until July 24 of next year to get well enough
Happy Healing!!!
Oh for sure you will be able to Sky dive by next summer. I think it is is helpful to have an aim to keep us motivated on this journey. I waited until my scar was completely healed before using a hot tub or pool just to be safe.
I hope you can skydive. My ambition has always been to do the world’s highest bungee jump in Macau. I asked my physio if I will be able to do this post ATR, she said it would be silly of me to risk it. I hope a skydive is safer!
SkyDiving is way safe except for the landing!
The healed ATR shouldn’t add any exta risk.
Even more so with your bungie jump, David: If the bungie breaks, the news reports won’t even MENTION that you were an ATR “survivor”!
@Curlygirl - I’m a non-op .. so no scar for me .. into the hot tub this weekend for sure *lol* and yes, I totally agree, a goal to keep me motivated is awesome
I WILL skydive next summer
@davidr - I don’t think a bungee jump would harm your ATR .. you’re not landing on your feet afterall .. you’re bouncing around and then don’t they lower you to the ground?
@normofthenorth - I’m pretty sure my first jump would be a tandem anyways .. so I’ll just let the other person do all the work
