I'm only a week or so ahead of you, and I have some similar symptoms: numbness on the top of my foot, and pain around the incision.

I've attributed the pain on the incision to scar tissue, it seems to hurt most the day after a good rub down in PT.

I've attributed the numbness to the constricted blood flow due to swelling. The numbness isn't nearly as bad as it was right after surgery, and I've read that it isn't un-common to experience some numbness for up to 6 months.

I just consider these reminders that it is a long healing process and try to make comparissons with where I'm at on a weekly or even monthly basis as opposed to a daily one.

brokenwheel - sorry to hear that you have pain in the spot where the achilles was repaired.

If it's really painful, I don't know if it should be hurting that much after 15 weeks. You may want to search the site and see if others have experienced similar pain. Check the main site for information on blood clots, and check bri's blog for info on her experiences with blood clot. I think it's better to err on the side of caution on things like this.

This is true. I know exactly what you mean by wearing flip flops...not until the last 2 or 3 weeks have I been able to wear them. Your leg looks really good, congrats!Good luck with the rest of your recovery and PT!

R^3 - I would be a little cautious riding a real bike at 8 weeks. On flat ground you'd probably be okay, but it's the unexpected hill or acceleration that I would worry about. Are you riding strong on the stationary bike? If yes, you may be fine. Otherwise, you may want to wait until you're pretty comfortable on the stationary bike.

I rode the exercise bike but don't be too ambitious. Really difficult until you build up strength. You'll know.

Good for you ratty. I hope to be in your shoes in three weeks (five weeks post surgery).

I ruptured my AT three weeks ago today and had surgery that Thursady and a splint was placed around the injury. I had my first post op last Friday and the splint was removed in favor of a boot. I was surprised that a boot was given to me so early. However, my ROM already is close to the "good" foot and have no swelling or pain. Given that many folks are in casts for months, is this normal?

Nice runratty!

I've been doing the same, walking around the house sans boot feels good. I'm anxious to challenge myself but will wait for the good doc's green light.
