The Broken Wheel

No boot, no problem

After trudging to work Friday with the boot, I took it off to go to the pool today. That was just the beginning. After we got home, my wife took a long nap, so I started dinner and ventured to take a few steps in kitchen to get water for spaghetti. I wouldn’t call it walking, but I put all my weight on this freaking thing and it held me up. Took a few more steps without crutches. Very cool. PT starts next week, but I’m feeling really good.

Nice runratty!

I’ve been doing the same, walking around the house sans boot feels good. I’m anxious to challenge myself but will wait for the good doc’s green light.

Good for you ratty. I hope to be in your shoes in three weeks (five weeks post surgery).

I ruptured my AT three weeks ago today and had surgery that Thursady and a splint was placed around the injury. I had my first post op last Friday and the splint was removed in favor of a boot. I was surprised that a boot was given to me so early. However, my ROM already is close to the “good” foot and have no swelling or pain. Given that many folks are in casts for months, is this normal?
