You’ll be fine! It took me a good 5-6 weeks before I wasn’t depressed. It helps to get out of the house. I wish I had done it sooner. I highly recommend a knee scooter. The crutches are terrible!

Someone told me to try getting out of the house. I laughed. I went to get my mail and I came back drenched in sweat because of the effort with the crutches. I thought to myself, well, I guess I could call this exercise.

Sigh….. I guess I better prepare myself for more days like this.

Thanks for the update. I am approaching four weeks and although I get glimpses of light at the end of the tunnel for the most part I am a mess. It helps to read positive recovery stories. Thanks

Great news! I’ve been walking in two shoes for about the same time and you are right, it does get better. I still walk with a limp as I have tendon tightness but it seems to be improving. So glad you are out and about!

I just can’t wait to be out of my walking boot. My heal is getting sore and so is my hip. I just can’t stand being in house when the weather is so nice. I am so depressed.. This is killing me. I love being active and I feel like am in prison.

I think everyone here will agree the first 4-6 weeks are hard John. I never thought I would be mobile! I hated being so dependent on my family. It does help to get out of the house though. I found it hard on the knee scooter with the boot as it hurt my scar. It really does get better! When will you be out of the boot do you think? If you’re only 2 weeks in then probably not for some time. I hope you feel better soon!

I felt the same way. However I am an extremely hardheaded person, I did not have any help the second week after my surgery. So I made myself get out, so I went to the gym and worked out really hard. It made the first few weeks go by quickly. So, I would not get so down, get out of the house. I am right at 6 weeks and I am hoping the doctor clears me to remove my boot.

Hi soldier- did u go the surgical route? At what point did u start working out hard? What type of exercises? I’m in a cast for a little over 2 more weeks. (I hope) Did ur doctor place any restraints on your activity level?
