About

I am a 57 year old guy.  I grew up in California and now I live with my wife and three dogs in Vienna, Virginia, which is a suburb of Washington, DC.  I am a partner in a small consulting firm.  I have been active all my life and in the past few years I have run several road races at the 5K, 10 mile, and half marathon distance.  My training regimen is generally 3 miles a day, 6 days a week on the treadmill, scaled up to include longer road work when prepping for longer events.  I have never had any musculoskelatal problems and I am generally in good health. My weight fluctuates between the high end of the range for my size to a little higher. I developed Achilles tendonitis in my legs about 8 years ago and over the past few years the right leg has gotten worse and worse, which eventually resulted in an Achilles tendon tear and then a rupture. This blog documents the repair, recovery, and rehabilitation process, focused on surgery and healing.
