1 week post op

Hi everyone,

I tore my achilles back in Nov. 07 playing floor hockey and was in a boot until January. My doctor and I agreed to try the non surgical approach 1st. Unfortunately, I have the distinction of being the 1st of his patients that didn’t make a complete recovery (I feel SOOO special).

I had my surgery 4/9 and have been elevating my leg ever since. I only needed the pain meds for 2 days and haven’t had any pain since. Unlike most people, I’m not in a cast. I have splints around the lower leg wrapped in an ace bandage. I also got a Tense 3000 which is supposed to reduce healing time. It transmits electrical impulses to stimulate blood flow and improve circulation. I’ll let everyone know if it works.

For me, the worst part is the boredom. There’s only so much daytime TV you can watch. I have however discovered Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America on satelite, so that can be entertaining. Other than that, my wife has been a huge help. She’s got more patience than I do and has been very good putting up with my crap.

I have my first post op visit this Friday (4/18). I’ll update then.
