Its been almost 10 weeks ATR… conservative and I am walking
Yes its been almost 10 weeks since the injury…. and I am walking…. mainly with crutches…. sometimes without…… I have now had 2 Physio sessions, on the NHS…… everything looks positive…. foot swells a bit… still resting when I can….. I can walk (hobble) up and down stairs (about 3 days ago)… using crutches as support and moving good leg first…… the physio has given me some ultrasound on the tendon… to encourage healing… the stretching excercises are very important…. he said do it to be uncomfortable not painful…… for a conservative all things seem good…. I find it important to ensure that I am wearing the site boots when moving outside the house or office… they have high ankle protection padding so the risk of twisting ankle is minimised……. I hope others are getting good results… its slow but in time is worth it….
I am glad everything is going well. Do you have to wear the boots to sleep as well? Best of luck.
No i do not….. i am walking bare foot in the house and at work….. my surgeon wanted me to place weight on the foot and keep moving the foot……. in fact i just try to walk around house without crutches….. a little bit on limp… but seems okay
10 weeks after a full rupture and your walking without a boot. That is really impressive recovery. I’m now 11 weeks post rupture and I can now walk ok in my aircast boot. I don’t think I would want to walk without it at the momment.
well mattew….. the surgeon… did not even give the boot as an option… even when I mentioned it…. so its now 11 weeks…. have been walking… even without crutches…. sometimes… like now.. I get concerned that I have damaged the repair… as I feel the wound alot sometimes…. but it still appears okay…. the fact is my leg is getting stronger as I walk normally….. but I try not to over do it… and still put my leg up alot….. but when I go out I use my site boots…. and still use a crutch
