196 weeks on
So here I am 196 weeks since my Achilles rupture and it all seems but a distant memory. In the 196 weeks since that troubled time, I have been running steadily, walking up and down mountains (”tramping” a we call is in New Zealand - my current home), did lots of yoga, swimming, even played some tennis (which is how I did my Achilles in)…had a baby, ran post-baby and now I am pregnant again. It just goes to show that the body is an amazing and wonderful thing, capable of more than our minds allow us to imagine sometimes. I am very happy to have had good care along the way and to now feel like I have my body back!
For anyone reading this and going through this or any other injury, I wish you strength, good recovery and most of all, good head-space - one of the most important factors here (at least I felt so)!

Hi Andreea,
I was thrilled to find your blog! I am 5 weeks post surgery. Your blog has been very inspirational. Wow! . . just the thought of 2 shoes again sounds wonderful!! And it’s amazing to hear how full your life has been since your ATR. Congratulations!! I’ve been in the boot for 2 weeks. It took a while for me to believe that the intention was for me to actually sleep in the boot! . . .what??!! If you recall those days, the nights aren’t too great. But they’re getting better. Your blog is the only place where I’ve been able to get an idea of how long I should expect to be in the boot. (about 9 weeks). My injury is to my right foot, so no driving (shoot, shoot shoot!) I have given my keys to a neighbor just to keep me from trying to drive left-footed. I have lots of help and I’m able to work from home. You’ve helped me keep in mind that there is (should be) light at the end of this experience!

Hi there, LaTrina, apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I do not check this blog so often these days. I am very glad that you have good support. It is good to have someone nearby who can help drive you etc. Yes, I think I was in the moonboot about 9-10 weeks, and I also remember finding it so long, like it was taking forever - but it did pass and things did improve and now my leg seems ok
thankfully! I hope your recovery goes well and all the best!
