Nothing too much to add from 19 weeks but….Im very excited at having done 10.5 MILES ON THE MARATHON TRACKER. This feels really significant to go over 10 miles and I’m having a joyous moment. This week have discovered I’ve been cheating on the stairs for a while, and actually struggling still to do them normally. Ive found out this is due to WEAK GLUTES on the affected side (what next….) so I have a bunch of new exercises to do. Keep healing folks and hang in there.

Well Im glad to say things are improving….slowly….I was told not to run/go hill walking for 6 months post op, and since this feels like my only chance Im going to do what I’m told. Still wear the boot on occasions but I think this is ok - I have to walk a lot at work. I can definately tell the difference between the beginning of the week and the end.
Going to keep this short but I can sum it up in two words PLANTAR FASCIITIS. Its a pain in the fascia to put it politely. (In the other leg - the unoperated one…) Had a steroid injection a few months ago and so I think there is little I can do now. At least I can put my heel down, was unable to a few months ago.
I’ve made an appointment with the sports physio and I hope a sports massage will help. I THINK it was painful like this post op but I was doing a lot less walking then. I have all the exercises, rolling foot on ice bottle etc etc.
As far as the AT goes, Im continually amazed at what I can do, and although my beloved climbing is on the back burner cycling has more than made up recently.

Its great to get a bit further along the marathon tracker, brilliant visual aid.
Ive just bought a new hybrid bike - Im very excited about this. I’m loving getting up a bit earlier and cycling (part) of the way to work, its light at the moment but winter is coming on. We have record temperatures for October in the UK right now, the weather is amazing. I’m a beginner but each time I do a bit more it feels great.
Still in a bit of pain, elevating quite a bit, wearing compression stocking. Foot still going a bit discoloured at times. Im chuckling to myself at bcurr’s update, Im also spending much head space thinking about wobble boards. I have another balance exercise which involves walking around a mat, foot half on half off and walk heel toe all the way round then reverse.
Over did it towards the end of last week. Im just too tempted to walk too far. Limp was noticeable on Friday afternoon, wore the boot for the first time in ages. Its far too easy to forget this is a slow healing injury. And I hate to admit, but I can feel the old plantar fasciitis on the left the more walking I do. The Sketchers shape ups (or any shoes with similar wobbly sole) do seem to help.
I had a call from my telephone company a while ago. They were concerned my bill had shot up in January when there was an unusual amout of calls. Had somebody been using my ‘phone? Makes sense, I was virtually housebound then. I guess as a one off its ok but it makes me think about people who have problems on a permanent basis.
Thanks so much for continued support in my recovery.
