6 Week update - Full update since original ATR

Posted by airzoomy on March 15, 2009

I haven’t been updating since my first post 6 weeks ago. Here’s a recap:

1/31: ATR - Basketball 10AM (left leg), ER 8pm, casted 9pm.

2/3: ATR surgery 2pm. General A. - 6pm exit, Plaster cast, Oxycondon pills

(Worked from home for 2 weeks till 2/16)

2/13: First post-op visit - Switch to fiberglass cast NWB

2/14: ER visit 9am - Switch to walking boot due to fiberglass complications with skin

2/18: Second post-op visit - Added one inch heel lift to the boot

3/9: Third post-op visit - Continue to wear the boot with lift, and officially PWB with the doctor

Currently as of 3/15:

I feel great since I’m able to drive, shower normal, don’t sleep with the boot, and most of all 75% PWB walking. Calf is half the size of the normal leg, but that’s expected. I’ve had an ACL surgery 7 years ago so I’ve been through this before. I’m looking forward to my 9 week post-op appt on 4/6 where I should be on 2 shoes. I currently try to stretch my foot up and down as pain allows. No heel pain when walking controlled around the house. Next update after 2 shoes.

And again, much love and thanks to my lovely girlfriend Amy who has helped me throughout this recovery process. Lastly, good luck to all the ATR’ers, this is the best blog/site for ATRs, I visit this everyday to get posts and updates, I wouldn’t be where I am without you all.
