How I ruptured the tendon

Posted by airzoomy on February 1, 2009

On Saturday, 1/30/09, around 10am, I was playing a pickup game of basketball. As I pushed off my left leg to drive, I felt a big “kick” on my left foot and also heard a loup pop. I thought someone kicked my foot and my shoe poppled. However, I dropped to the ground and wanted to get back up thinking it was just my ankle. As pain started to shoot down to my foot, I knew it was much worse and I stayed down to the ground for a couple minutes.

As I limped off, I knew it was bad. I knew it was my tendon, but was hoping it was not as bad. As I drove home and had ice put on, the throbbing got worse and I had to look online to see how bad it could be. After reading the symptoms, I decided to head to the ER to get it worked on 8 hours later.

After waiting awhile in the ER, a doctor took a look and knew it was bad. Good thing the Orthopedic doctor was nearby and took a quick look and told me it was a full rupture after a test. So then the cast went on and off to home I go. Monday will determine when my surgery will be.

A quick “thank you” to my lovely girlfriend Amy who made the first day experience not depressing and keeping me happy.
