What about the weight gain?
August 14th, 2017
Am I the only one who gained weight while NWB and PWB and even when you first get in two shoes?! It is so maddening and depressing! Like I am starting all over trying to lose everything I lost and was maintaining before my injury! It’s crazy how much this impacts your life! I still don’t feel like I have the energy levels I had for working out pre-injury. I’m just now getting back up to five days a week working out but it’s tough! How are you guys handling it?

I lost a little weight. I’m sure part of it was the muscle mass, but I also, consciously, ate less since I knew I would be less active. And it does take a while to get your energy back. Remember your body is still healing and needs to use energy for that. As your body heals you’ll get more energy for exercising! I’m at 6 months and was at the point where I was working out 5-6 days again. Had a minor surgery procedure for something else, got an infection and now I can’t do much exercising since it hurts. Once things clear up I’ll get back to it. I’m pissed since I had just started playing soccer again! Ah well - it will be a 1-2 week delay in my foot healing process.
I kept the weight off at first but got lazy when I was back in 2 shoes. Gained about 5kg in total, though I’ve lost about 2kg now so currently 3kg above starting weight.
