Splint off, Stitches out and in the boot

Just came back from the Orthopod today. Got my first Birthday gift…stitches out, splint off and now in a boot. I still am not supposed to put weight on it for the next 4 weeks but can use crutches and put my foot down while walking. They said no PT in 4 weeks but I can swim in my pool in 10 days. I just can’t stand on it in the pool. Phase 1 complete.

Happy birthday, and congratulations on your new boot! Boots are much better than casts IMO, so this is a positive step. Just be careful when it’s not on as you are very vulnerable at this stage. BTW, I recommend you add the ATR Timeline and NYC Marathon Map widgets to your blog site; the first gives readers some context of your recovery state and the second is a useful reminder of how far you’ve come and how far you’ve yet to go. Congrats!!! I am a few weeks ahead of you but glad to hear you are out of the cast and into the boot.
One tip I will give you…..your back will start to hurt due to the size of the boot and how it alters your gait. I went and got a device called an “evenup”. A tip I got from a lot of all the other bloggers here. Its a device that looks like a sole of a shoe that straps onto your good foot. Main purpose is to even out the leg length discrepancy. They are fairly cheap as well. I ordered mine on Amazon for approx. $24.
Just curious…did your injury occur at PSA playing basketball several sundays back? If so, I was on the other team and went down about three weeks later.
