One Year, all good!
I am an athletic 52 year old male, ruptured a year ago tomorrow, had the repair, and am back in business. It was definitely a slow process, but looking back it was easy to see progress. I am back to running, backpacking, kayaking, basically anything I could do before (except for being a foot model, as I have a lot of scar tissue!).
I was FWB at day 35, in a boot through week 12, and really didn’t hit my stride with full activity until about the nine month mark. But it did get back to 100%, so no complaints!
Thanks to all that chimed in during my recovery, and I wish all of you the best in your recoveries!

Thanks for the good news about what is waiting for us, CPO! Did you do kayaking with the boot on? or did you wait until the 9 month mark?
I guess this counts as your 2016 dues in the “Boot Clan”. LOL

It’s always nice to hear from the old timers. Thanks for giving us some hope to what’s in store for us!

@manny, I went kayaking at the six month mark, actually, and I brought the boot with me but didn’t end up wearing it (my security blanket!). While it took me 9 months to feel close to 100%, I actually was able to do quite a bit sooner. I’m guessing I was at about 80% at 6 months, was hiking and biking by then.
@s40love, thanks for your comment. I know it is a long road, but the good news for all of us is that the vast majority have 100% recoveries. I kept a brief journal in a spreadsheet to track each major step, just a line or two every week, and that really helped me see gradual progress that I might have overlooked otherwise.
There are a lot of different protocols out there, but they all eventually converge. At this point, a lot of time goes by without me even thinking about my achilles.
Good luck to all of you!
